John F. Wojdan

John F. Wojdan is the President and Owner of Great Lakes Building Systems, Inc. (GLBS), currently celebrating his 39^th year in the fire and security protection industry. After graduating from Erie Community College in 1979 with an A.A.S. in Electrical Technology, he joined Advanced Safety Systems NY (ASSI) in Buffalo, New York as a fire suppression systems designer.  He advanced his position to service technician and then service manager. John was eventually promoted to Vice President of Operations.

He left ASSI in 1996 to join Simplex as a Building Systems Sales Representative. He continued building and establishing long term relationships with key accounts in the Western New York market, exceeding sales quota four out of five years, earning earn the right to attend the sales 100% Club trips.

He left Simplex (Tyco) in 2001 to found and establish Great Lakes Building Systems, Inc. Using Notifier as the main equipment supplier. They quickly realized the opportunity to expand in the security systems market and chose Honeywell as a partner.  Currently, GLBS is a Honeywell Integrated Systems distributor. GLBS has grown from a company of 3 and one small office, to over 40 employees with offices in Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse. They are the premier systems integrator in their market, and have branded themselves as a “Honeywell House”.

 John is a past President of the Niagara Chapter of the NFPA and is NICET. Certified- Level IV in fire alarm systems and level III in Special Hazard Protection. He is currently a member of the Notifier Distributor Advisory Counsel.
